The Ohio Land Improvement Contractors Association (OLICA) is the Ohio affiliate of the Land Improvement Contractors of America (LICA). LICA can trace its beginnings to a state association organized in Missouri during 1951. The following year, additional states joined the new association and it became the Land Improvement Contractors of America (LICA). Since then, other states have been added until there are active LICA chapters in nearly every state. Check out the Land Improvement Contractors of America website for more information on these chapters.
Interested drainage contractors in Ohio worked with Ohio State Ag Engineering Instructors to conduct annual schools and seminars. This group became the Ohio Drainage Contractors. As the group joined the upcoming national association, their name became the Ohio Land Improvement Contractors Association (OLICA).
OLICA's members are involved in a variety of construction projects. The common thread uniting so many activities is each member's dedication to soil and water conservation. OLICA and LICA are a group of land improvement and conservation contractors, support businesses, scientists and individuals interested in soil and water conservation. LICA has chapters throughout the United States and Canada. OLICA programs and services, unless otherwise indicated, are available only to OLICA members within the state of Ohio. The political and other positions expressed in these pages represent OLICA positions on various issues as they relate to Ohio. The positions of national LICA are expressed through LICA, whose website can be found at www.licanational.com. OLICA and LICA emblems are registered service marks owned by OLICA and LICA respectively.
