FARM SCIENCE REVIEW
This year, September 21-23, OLICA volunteers will be implementing a field drainage project at the Farm Science Review (FSR). The field site is north of I-70 and east of S.R. 38 (half way between the exhibitors area and the grain bins - look for OLICA's name at a wagon stop). The plan is to install several thousand feet of main and systematic 4" tile as well some controlled drainage structures. Several makes of tile plows (RWF Bron, Inter-Drain, Wolf Plow, and perhaps a Buckeye Wheel Machine) will be working. In addition, JD and CAT backhoes will be on hand. Coordinating the project are Louie McFarland (614-582-4644), Steve Gerten (419-235-1883) and Jim Jett (419-656-0386). Contact Louie if you need vehicle and/or entrance passes for the Review. Jim Jett will use his RTK survey instrument to develop a precise topo map for the site. The FSR has agreed to provide us a 20'x20' tent, tables and chairs at the field site. This will serve as a place to gather as well as a place for tabletop displays. All volunteers are welcome. Please plan to join us out in the field, where the "dirt movers" hang out!
OLICA WINTER CONVENTION
The dates for the 2011 OLICA Annual Convention are Jan. 3-5. It will be held in Columbus at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Conference Center. OLICA Vice President and Annual Convention Chairman, Roger Greenwalt (330-446-0052), is working on several ideas. For now, hold the dates, send Roger any thoughts you may have about the conference, and look for registration material the first of October.
2011 LICA NATIONAL CONVENTION
The 2011 National convention will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 20-2,1, just before Conexpo/Con/Agg. The dates for Conexpo-Con/Agg are March 22-26, 2011.
