Paul Pullins Enterprises and RWF Bron Team Up to Fight Breast Cancer
Ditching for a Cure – Real men and real machines wear pink.
Seldom does a single event highlight two topics as diverse as agricultural drainage and breast cancer. But such will be the case at this year’s Farm Science Review, September 20-22, 2011 at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center, London, Ohio.
The Ohio Land Improvement Contractors Association (OLICA), a professional organization of small, family-owned drainage contractors and dirt movers from across Ohio, has decided to combine its drainage demonstration project at this year’s Review with a fundraising effort to help find a cure for breast cancer. The focal point for the fundraising event will be a drainage plow painted entirely pink!
The pink plow was the idea of its owner, Paul Pullins Enterprises, Quincy, Ohio. Paul and his family wanted to do something “big” to support breast cancer awareness and few agricultural machines are bigger than a 41 ton, 550 horsepower drainage plow. So when they decided to purchase another 550 Bron, they told the manufacturer RWF Bron to paint it pink.
Most people know someone affected by breast cancer. Consequently, OLICA wanted to provide farmers and others in agriculture the opportunity to make a donation and a difference in the battle against breast cancer. So be sure to stop by and see why ditching and a cure for breast cancer are both worth the investment.
The pink plow will be parked just north of the main exhibitor area near the shuttle bus stop for the Gwynne Conservation Area and the equipment demonstration area. Proceeds will benefit The Stefanie Speilman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (www.spielmanfund.com). Donation checks should be made out to The Stefanie Spielman Fund.

When Paul Pullins decided to purchase another Bron tile plow, his son John Pullins, said “why not paint the plow pink” which presented a natural tie to breast cancer. All parties involved liked the idea and on April 30, 2011 at RWF Bron headquarters in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada the pink plow was unveiled.

A fund raising event for breast cancer research was also held that day. Pictured above is Barb Hall, Owner of RWF Bron, presenting Paul Pullins with a check for over $5,000. The money will be split between the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

All parties continue to raise money on behalf of breast cancer.Paul and Ginny Dickie 2011 Ohio LICA will have the pink plow on display at the Farm Science Review Ohio LICA Field Day, September 20 – 22, 2011. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please contact Mark Odorico, RWF Bron at 800-263-1060. Ohio LICA associate member, NUPCO, has agreed to produce some pink drainage tile to go along with the pink plow. Pictured above is Paul Pullins and NUPCO co-owner, Ginny Dickie.
